Australia to spend $8 billion on nuclear sub shipyard

Australia is investing AU$12 billion to upgrade the Henderson shipyard into a maintenance hub for its future nuclear-powered submarines under the AUKUS agreement with the UK and the US. This investment, spanning a decade, will bolster Australia's strategic capabilities in the Indo-Pacific region and support around 10,000 local jobs.
